Before taking calculus, an advanced college-level math course necessary from many math and science-oriented career paths, students will often take a pre-calculus course in either high school or college.
Pre-calculus isn’t always a clearly-defined set of material like calculus, and it isn’t necessarily a required course for everyone. It can sometimes even go under different names – some colleges may offer an “Algebra II” class that’s treated as a pre-calculus course.
Generally, it builds on concepts introduced in Trigonometry, Geometry and Algebra and bridges the gap between them and calculus. In this way, a pre-calculus course can be a helpful introduction to the subject matter of calculus before taking the main course.
If you’ve struggled in previous math courses, though, and are finding the work involved with pre-calculus difficult, you may be doubting your ability to succeed with calculus even if you do well enough to get through this class.
We’d like to help you change that.
